On the way up to Philadelphia area for the LiveStrong Challenge we took a little detour through Lancaster County to visit the Strasburg Railroad. The drive there was absolutely BEAUTIFUL, and I just about jumped out of my skin with excitement every time I saw an Amish person. I think they're so cool. Really.
Anyway, we met up with J's sister and family in Strasburg, PA. The trains there are steam engines in the style of Thomas and Friends, but without the expressive faces and train-related rejoinders. The kids thought they were awesome, and so did we.
There were lots of Mennonite families on the train, which I also thought was great. Wow, what fun you can have people-watching in Pennsylvania!
We saw a few men with the hats and long beards driving carriages along the side of the road. Here are most of the kids posing in a similar Amish-style carriage:
Babycakes and I looking out at the countryside. We rode in the open-air car, which was great on a day that was so beautiful:

After the fantastic train ride we had some ice cream:
And saw lots of really big trains in the train museum:
Bust my bumpers, it was a great time!
